Bo Nix is in his first NFL season with the Denver Broncos. The quarterback spent 3 seasons in college with Auburn and then 2 at Oregon.

Now, Nix is the starting QB for the Broncos. It can be difficult to gameplan for rookie quarterbacks because defenses don’t have much film. Ahead of the Broncos’ matchup with the Atlanta Falcons this weekend, however, Falcons defender Jessie Bates doesn’t see that being an issue.

Bates mentioned that Nix’s long college career makes it seem like the QB isn’t a rookie.

“We’ve been watching him (Nix) in college for the last 5 or 6 years, 10 years, however long it’s been,” said Bates. “He’s not a rookie quarterback, it seems like he’s a graduate student almost.”

Nix played in 61 college games from 2019-23. The QB racked up 15,351 passing yards with 113 touchdowns and 26 interceptions during his time at Auburn and Oregon.

In 2023, the QB was a Heisman Trophy finalist and earned First-team All-Pac-12 honors. The QB was then selected in the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

While Bates thinks there’s plenty of film on Nix, the veteran defender also acknowledged that sometimes too much film study makes you overthink things.

“Sometimes it’s a good thing when you don’t have too much film, you don’t overthink it,” said Bates.

Bates and the Falcons are looking to pick up their 7th win of the season against Nix and the Broncos.
