Cadillac Williams probably didn’t get much sleep last night.

After being officially named as Auburn’s running back coach, something he has long aspired to become, Williams hit the road bright and early on Thursday morning to recruit for the Tigers.

This should come as no surprise to anyone that read his comments soon after being named Auburn’s new running backs coach. Here is the statement Auburn released on Williams’ behalf on Wednesday.

“I’m ecstatic, super excited and humbled to have the opportunity to return home to Auburn and coach at a place that helped me become the man I am today,” Williams said. “I’m very grateful and appreciative of Coach Malzahn, the staff and the Auburn administration for this opportunity. Words can’t explain the emotions I had when I received the offer from Coach Malzahn.”

His actions immediately upon landing the job prove he was telling the truth, as Williams hit the road recruiting before 5 a.m. Check out this tweet Williams sent out on Thursday, which was technically his first day on the job:

If Gus Malzahn hired Williams in part because he believed the former Auburn great would develop into a monster on the recruiting trail, Cadillac may turn out to be just that sooner than expected.
