It may not take much longer for Chad Morris to land on his feet.

According to Brandon Marcello of Auburn Undercover, Morris has been targeted to become Auburn’s new offensive coordinator. The job will become open with Kenny Dillingham reportedly leaving to become the offensive coordinator at Florida State.

Morris spent the past two years as the head coach at Arkansas before he was fired after the Razorbacks’ 2-8 start this season. He went 4-18 during his time at Arkansas.

Prior to coaching the Razorbacks, Morris was the head coach at SMU from 2015-17. He also spent time as an assistant at Tulsa (2010) and Clemson (2011-14), serving as the offensive coordinator at both schools.

Although Morris could be heading to Auburn to be the offensive coordinator, Tigers head coach Gus Malzahn may be the one calling plays. After handing over those responsibilities from 2016-18, Malzahn took back over prior to the 2019 season when Dillingham was hired.

If Morris is hired by Auburn, it wouldn’t be long before he would take on his former school. The Tigers and Razorbacks are slated to face off at Auburn on Nov. 7, 2020.
