If star wide receiver Anthony Schwartz’ recent tweet is any indication, it appears the Auburn players are following the coaching search to replace Gus Malzahn.

With an emoji of a circus tent, Schwartz made his feelings known without using words only moments after reports surfaces that Louisiana coach Billy Napier had turned down Auburn to return to the Ragin’ Cajuns.

Napier was seen as a promising choice on The Plains as Chatsworth, Georgia native played at Furman, but has since coached at South Carolina State, Clemson, Colorado, Alabama and Arizona State.

Last season, Louisiana went 11-3 overall record and clinched the Sun Belt’s West Division title with a 53-3 victory over Troy. Louisiana went 9-1 this season, and was ranked as high as No. 16 in the Associated Press Top 25. Napier is 27-11 in three seasons there.

After defensive coordinator and interim coahc Kevin Steele was the popular choice last week, according to multiple reports, reports have shifted to Napier, and now UAB coach Bill Clark.

Clark navigated UAB through a program shut down and restart in 2014-15. At UAB, he is 39-22 and he is 50-26 as a Division I head coach.

This season UAB is set to play South Carolina in the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, Florida after the Blazers won Conference USA with a win over Marshall, 22-13 on Friday, to improve to 6-3 and win their 2nd league title in the past 3 years.
