Jaylin Williams had to exit Auburn’s loss to Kentucky with a knee injury on Saturday night.

Williams exited the game with 10:40 remaining just as Auburn was attempt to mount a comeback. The Tigers ultimately fell short, losing 70-59 for their first home defeat of the 2023-24 season.

Williams shared this update on social media on Sunday morning:

That seems to be positive news for Auburn, especially given the comments made by head coach Bruce Pearl after the game. Pearl indicated Auburn was fearing a significant knee injury for Williams.

“We think it’s something,” Pearl said. “Not just a bang.”

Per college basketball insider Jeff Goodman, Williams is expected to be able to return before the end of the season.

That’s huge news for an Auburn team that has looked like a Final Four contender at times this season. The Tigers are just 1.5 games behind Alabama for the SEC regular season title lead.

Williams is in his 5th season with the program and is averaging a career-high 13 points per game. He’s also been one of the Tigers’ best 3-point shooters this season, making 41.7% of his long-range attempts.

Auburn will face Georgia on the road on Saturday as it looks to get back in the win column.
