Auburn beefed up its coaching staff this month with the addition of former Gators head coach Will Muschamp, the replacement for Ellis Johnson at defensive coordinator. Any recruiting target Muschamp had in Gainesville is now an Auburn interest which could pay dividends for the Tigers on National Signing Day.

Here’s a review of where Auburn’s at heading into bowl week after the holiday and a few predictions on where the Tigers could end up in February. We use 247Sports’ team rankings and individual composite player lists to determine grades:

  • National recruiting rank: 10th
  • SEC recruiting rank: 5th

Signed, sealed, delivered

  • Jovon Robinson, RB, Milledgeville, Ga. (Five-star)
  • Jason Smith, ATH, Perkinston, Miss. (Four-star)
  • Maurice Swain, DT, Perkinston, Miss. (Three-star)

Notable hard commits

  • Kerryon Johnson, ATH, Madison, Ala. (Four-star)
  • Darrell Williams, LB, Birmingham, Ala. (Four-star)
  • Jordan Colbert, S, Griffin, Ga. (Four-star)

Remaining primary targets

  • Martez Ivey, OL, Apopka, Fla. (Five-star)
  • John Burt, WR, Tallahassee, Fla. (Four-star)
  • Daron Payne, DT, Irondale, Ala. (Four-star)

Signing Day surprise

  • Four-star wideout John Burt has soft verbaled to Texas, but many expect the Tallahassee, Fla. native to flip to Auburn in February. Being chased by Dameyune Craig, Burt would likely avoid a redshirt with either choice and has the potential to make an impact as a true freshman.
