Dabo Swinney met with reporters after Clemson’s 24-20 win over Pittsburgh on Saturday afternoon.

The win moved Clemson to 8-2 on the season and 7-1 in ACC play. The Tigers are still alive in the race for both the ACC Championship Game and the College Football Playoff, although they will need some help along the way in order to have a chance to achieve those goals.

After the game, Swinney acknowledged that Clemson does not control its own destiny into late November. However, he celebrated that Clemson’s postseason goals are still on the table and said he believes this team can “play with anybody on any given day.”

“We are in the fight,” Swinney said. “That’s all you can ask for. We don’t control our destiny. We are a team that believes and we think we can play with anybody on any given day. I don’t know what’s happened today, but a lot can happen in college football.”

Clemson checked in at No. 20 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings earlier this week. While the Tigers could move up next week pending other results, their most likely path to reaching the CFP involves a win in the ACC Championship Game.

In order to make the ACC title game, though, Clemson will need Miami to lose one more time or SMU to lose twice down the stretch in ACC play. Any tiebreakers between those 3 teams would see Clemson missing out on a trip to the conference title game.

Clemson is done with ACC games for the 2024 regular season. The Tigers will face Citadel in Week 13 and South Carolina in Week 14 while keeping a close eye on other developments at the top of the ACC.
