College basketball AP Top 25: Auburn climbs, Alabama falls after Week 2
The AP Top 25 has been updated following another strong week of college basketball, and 7 SEC teams made the cut this time around.
Auburn now claims the top spot in the conference, coming it at No. 4 ahead of Alabama at No. 8. The Tide fell from the No. 2 spot after falling to Purdue on Friday.
But the team of the week in the SEC is not Auburn, it’s Kentucky, which had the biggest movement of any team in the Top 25. Kentucky jumped from No. 19 to No. 9 after beating Duke on Tuesday, perhaps the most impressive win of the season by any team. Mark Pope’s Wildcats are experienced and seem to have gelled almost immediately – and they’re a real threat in the SEC this season because of it.
Next up is Tennessee, which had a fairly boring week of blowing out opponents. The Vols downed Louisville and Austin Peay and stick put at No. 11.
Texas A&M Florida and Arkansas are the final 3 teams to crack the top 25 this week. A&M has the most impressive win of the bunch after beat Ohio State, though Florida did also earn a strong win over Florida State.
