College basketball AP Top 25: 8 SEC programs crack Week 5 poll

The Week 5 college basketball AP poll was released on Monday following an incredible Feast Week full of top 25 matchups, tournaments and upsets.
Eight SEC teams cracked the latest poll, including 3 teams inside the top 5: Auburn, Tennessee and Kentucky at No. 2-4, respectively.
Again, it’s surprising that Auburn is not the top seed in the AP poll after a truly incredible showing this past week. The Tigers downed the likes of Memphis, Iowa State and North Carolina just in the past week. Add a win over Houston and there’s not a team in the country that has the Tigers’ resume early.
Kansas and Tennessee are close, however. The Jayhawks hold wins over Michigan State, North Carolina and Duke while Tennessee has downed Baylor and a surprisingly good Louisville team, both by 20+.
Alabama, Florida, Texas A&M and Ole Miss remain in the top 25 following strong weeks. Of the group, Florida is probably the most impressive. The Gators sit at 8-0 on the year, but still have yet to post a win against a truly elite program. That could change in a few weeks when Florida faces North Carolina.
Mississippi State and Arkansas fell out of the top 25 this week while Oklahoma jumped into the fray. The Sooners take the No. 21 spot after downing Louisville and Arizona, adding to their undefeated season at 7-0.
