Wake Forest Demon Deacons

About Wake Forest Basketball

Wake Forest might have the smallest enrollment among power conference schools. But it has a big basketball tradition, highlighted by its tie-dye-wearing student section and motorcycle-riding mascot, along with a history that includes 23 NCAA Tournament appearances, 4 ACC Tournament championships and a Final Four in 1962.

Beyond the team’s success, the Deacons have also produced some of the best individual players in college basketball history. It’s a list that includes Naismith Hall of Famer Tim Duncan, perennial NBA All-Star Chris Paul and ACC Players of the Year Randolph Childress and Rodney Rogers.

Although the program has taken a downturn since the sudden death of coach Skip Prosser in 2007, it has made positive strides by winning 20 or more games and finishing with a winning ACC record in 3 times in 4 seasons under current coach Steve Forbes from 2022-25.
