4-star Georgia Tech signee reportedly passes away
Tragic news has struck the Georgia Tech football program as one of the Yellow Jackets’ signees has reportedly passed away.
Kelly Quinlan of Rivals and Yahoo Sports reported that “WR signee Bryce Gowdy has passed away. Tragic news from his HS team confirming the news. As someone who knew the young man I am speechless. As a father and a reporter covering a team that has faced two deaths in less than a year I’m heartbroken for everyone involved.”
Quinlan later reported that Gowdy was hit by a train, and that was all the details he had.
Gowdy, a 4-star recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite, was 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, from Deerfield Beach, Florida. He had a reported 23 offers, including about half of the SEC.
This is especially tough news for Georgia Tech, which lost a player in March. Brandon Adams was participating in a dance routine when he collapsed and suddenly died.

Bryce was one of the funniest recruits I’ve ever encountered. Always enjoyed seeing him at events because he always had a way of making me laugh. Incredibly sad to hear of his passing. https://t.co/oFoWSUSfUk

This clip from @TheOpening Atlanta shows a bit of who Bryce was. Talented, competitive and funny. Took a bus from south Florida up to ATL just to compete that day, too. #RIPSimba https://t.co/CbLLfR8Cj8
