Report: AAC program has been active in conference realignment discussions
You had to know the pending expansion of Texas and Oklahoma to the Southeastern Conference was going to start a chain reaction of movement across the sport and that very much appears to be the case in college athletics.
The latest on that front comes from Justin Williams of The Athletic, who is reporting that Cincinnati has been active in conference realignment discussions.
With the American Athletic Conference, or AAC, being at the Group of 5 level, it’s safe to assume Cincinnati is working hard behind the scenes to ensure that if any programs have the opportunity to make the jump to the Power 5, the Bearcats have a seat at that table.
If the Big Ten makes the decision to expand, which is unclear if they have plans to do so at this time, Cincinnati would make some sense for the league.
Sources at the University of Cincinnati tell @TheAthletic that the school has been proactive and assertive in conference realignment discussions since last week, and that the university is committed to securing the #Bearcats best interests moving forward.https://t.co/222dD2YVL4
