ESPN’s “College GameDay” announced via Twitter on Sunday that it would head to Dallas next Saturday for the annual Red River Showdown between Oklahoma and Texas.
While it’s a storied rivalry between two of the biggest college football brands in the nation, it was a choice that left many scratching their heads.
After all, the Sooners, despite an unbeaten record and lofty ranking, have looked like pretenders so far this season, while Texas was unranked as of the Week 4 AP poll and without a quality win under its belt.
Meanwhile, a top-5 matchup between Iowa and Penn State is on the schedule for next Saturday, as well as Georgia’s trip to Auburn for a huge SEC showdown.
College football fans have let their feelings be known after the announcement, taking to Twitter in droves to blast the choice.
Here’s a look at some of those reactions:

So it’s no longer about going to the biggest game, it’s about whether it’s on an ESPN network. Sad.
