Jim Harbaugh could face a significant suspension for the 2024 season, a college football insider believes.

Bruce Feldman broke down a possible suspension for the 2024 season as well as what the future holds for Jim Harbaugh moving forward on Big Noon Kickoff on Saturday.

Feldman reminded viewers that Harbaugh has been weighing the NFL as an option for the last few years.

“This is a guy who has flirted hard with the (NFL) the last 2 offseasons,” Feldman said. “Remember, he met with the Minnesota Vikings on signing day 2 years ago, and then last year was courted by the Broncos and opted to stay with Michigan because he really wanted to coach this team that, everybody came back for this group.”

Feldman also brought up an ongoing investigation that Harbaugh is facing from recruiting violations during the 2020 COVID dead period. He believes those violations could come into play amidst the sign-stealing investigation.

“Going forward it’s going to be interesting, because he still has an NCAA investigation from recruiting violations from the COVID dead period that the NCAA is still after him about,” Feldman said. “Now they have this Connor Stalions signal stealing story that they’re dealing with. It would not be surprising if Jim Harbaugh, if he is still the coach at Michigan, could be suspended for the bulk of the 2024 season, I’m told.”

Feldman believes that, depending on his suspension, Harbaugh could make the move to go back to the NFL. Harbaugh was an NFL coach from 2002 to 2003 and again from 2011 to 2014 before joining Michigan in 2015.

“And also another part of this, remember, Jim Harbaugh is a wildly successful head coach in the NFL,” Feldman said. “Don’t be surprised if someone else comes after him and he decides, ‘you know what, the timing’s right, maybe I need to make a move.'”
