It’s becoming a forgettable season at Miami as the latest example came on Saturday with a loss to Georgia Tech.

There was a series of eye-popping plays for Georgia Tech that led to the 28-12 victory in overtime. Among them, a fake punt for a touchdown, a fumble recovery in the end zone for another touchdown, and a blocked field goals. All of that was enough to send Miami fans over the edge, and the seats at Miami Gardens took the brunt of the frustration.

Georgia Tech got its first ACC win of the season and first under new coach Geoff Collins. Miami slipped to 3-4 and 1-3 in the ACC. This is the Hurricanes worst 7-game start in 22 years.

Kicking has been especially frustrating for the Canes. Miami’s missed 6 field goal attempts inside of 34 yards this season, and 2 extra points. All 4 of Miami’s losses have been by 7 points or less, and those missed kicks have been a factor each time.

This was the first time Miami lost to a team with a 1-5 record of worse since 1974, when the Canes lost to then 0-8 Florida State.
