Michigan’s dominant running game in CFP National Championship drawing plenty of reaction on social media

Michigan ran wild on Washington in the 1st quarter of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game in Houston.

In just 15 minutes, the Wolverines racked up 174 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 9 carries. Donovan Edwards recorded a pair of touchdowns, the first for 41 yards to open the scoring and the second for 46 yards on Michigan’s next possession. Blake Corum totaled 73 yards on 4 carries, with a long of 59 yards to end the 1st quarter that put his team in the red zone.

The Wolverines held a 14-3 lead after the opening period. With the run game taking care of business, it took some of the pressure off of J.J. McCarthy, who was 3-of-4 passing for 55 yards.

Michigan’s ability to sustain its success on the ground could prove critical the rest of the way. Meanwhile, here’s some of the reaction on social media to what was a massively successful 1st quarter for the Wolverines running the ball:
