James Franklin has been named as a candidate for several high-profile vacancies. The Penn State head coach could make a return to the SEC and head to LSU, or could bolt for the West Coast and take over at USC.

He could just stay put where he is, though.

Despite a 65-30 record in Happy Valley, Franklin has led the Nittany Lions to a 1st-place finish or tied for 1st place in the Big Ten’s East division only once during his tenure, and losses to teams like Illinois the last time out don’t help, either. But Franklin seems as if he’ll remain a hot commodity in the head coaching market.

And it looks as if Franklin could be preparing himself to make the jump to a new gig. According to FootballScoop, he has signed with Jimmy Sexton and the renowned Creative Artists Agency, or CAA.

CAA is one of the most well-known agencies in the world, counting many entertainers and sports figures among its representation. As FootballScoop notes, it represents such names as Nick Saban and Kirby Smart, among many others.

Some college football fans may feel that it’s not a matter of if Franklin leaves Penn State, but instead a matter of where he’ll end up in 2022. Hiring one of the top sports agents in the industry certainly seems to be a hint into Franklin’s thinking.
