Anthony Richardson could hardly have performed better in the season opener as he completed 17-of-24 passes for 168 yards, also with 106 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the ground.

Despite having a small sample size, he’s backing up how he could potentially be an early-round draft pick. Florida head coach Billy Napier has seemed confident in Richardson’s abilities for a while now, including the first night he watched him throw after an offseason surgery.

“Billy Napier told me the night he first saw Anthony Richardson throw footballs after offseason knee surgery was the best night of sleep he had since taking the @GatorsFB job,” Paul Finebaum tweeted.

After knocking off the previously No. 7-ranked Utah Utes 29-26 in an upset victory, Richardson and the Gators will face the No. 20-ranked Kentucky Wildcats in Gainesville at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday night.
