Dan Mullen Coach of the Year? The reaction to that news was as negative as you'd expect
Florida coach Dan Mullen has had a tumultuous last several weeks in the public eye. From the loss to LSU, through the SEC Championship loss to Alabama and the Cotton Bowl loss to Oklahoma, there have been several negative issues around the program, not the least of which the three-game losing streak to end the season.
But on the other hand, Mullen beat Georgia and won the SEC East, and the Gators have a Heisman Trophy finalist in QB Kyle Trask, who led a high-powered offense with a host of playmakers who torched defenses.
So when Pro Football Focus College announced Mullen was its Coach of the Year, it brought plenty of emojis and laughing GIFs in response. Still other fans mentioned the likes of other coaches who had great seasons, from Coastal’s Jamey Chadwell, to Cincinnati’s Luke Fickell, Liberty’s Hugh Freeze, Iowa State’s Matt Campbell, Ohio State’s Ryan Day and Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley.
One fan even asked if the PFF Twitter account was a parody.
Here’s a sampling of the reaction:

The guy who basically admitted to not coaching for the Bowl game? The graphic of the team wandering aimlessly before the 4th Q while OU-Riley is rallying his team even up by a bundle?
The guy who started a fight?
The guy who showed up to a presser as Darth Vader?
wut? really?

Great scout team coach, sure. But who’s the first-string coach of the year?
