Florida is rolling into the Early Signing Period on an absolute heater. On Friday, the Gators landed their ninth verbal commitment in the last 3 weeks.

Shawnee (Kan.) Mill Valley edge rusher Jayden Woods announced he is flipping his commitment from Penn State to Florida. The blue-chipper had been pledged to the Nittany Lions since June, but Florida got him on campus for an official visit last weekend and was able to close the gap.

Woods is a 4-star recruit in the industry-generated 247 Composite. He’s ranked as the fifth-best recruit from the state of Kansas and the 10th-best edge defender in the 2025 class. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound defender sits at No. 130 in the national player rankings.

He was Penn State’s third-highest-ranked recruit, per the Composite.

Woods does everything for his school. He has helped Mill Valley win multiple Kansas 5A state titles in football, qualified for the 6A state wrestling tournament as a sophomore, won the 6A state title in discus as a sophomore, and then won 6A state titles in both shot put and discus as a junior.

In 2023, he posted 71 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 8 pass breakups, and 2 forced fumbles. This fall, Woods posted 90 tackles, 5 TFLs, 5.5 sacks, 2 more forced fumbles, a pass breakup, and an interception.

The Florida class now holds 20 known commitments ahead of the Early Signing Period (Dec. 4-6). As the Gators surge on the field, Billy Napier is parlaying that momentum onto the recruiting trail. The Gators’ class is up to 15th in the national team rankings.
