Four-star 2022 defensive lineman Chris McClellan confirmed which many have speculated for weeks, revealing that he committed to the Florida Gators weeks ago. He made the official announcement Tuesday on Twitter.

It is kind of surprising that McClellan would still head to Gainesville considering the fact that they fired head coach Dan Mullen on Sunday after the Gators’ loss to Missouri.

McClellan said that Mullen’s firing didn’t affect his decision to come to Florida. He said this about why he choose Florida via On3 sports:

“I love the program that much,” McClellan said. “I know that’s where I wanted to be at so that’s where I’m going.”

The Gators could use some good news after the weekend they have had. The Gators will try to win their 6 game of the season when they face Florida State Saturday.

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, McClellan is the No. 18 defensive lineman in the class of 2022 and the No. 3 overall recruit from the state of Oklahoma.
