Florida edge Jack Pyburn is set to enter the transfer portal, according to a report.
That news was first shared by On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday afternoon. Pyburn was a key player for the Gators’ front 7 this season, totaling 60 tackles, 2 sacks and 5 tackles for loss.
Pyburn is a big loss for Florida, if he ultimately does leave the program. He’s a versatile defender capable of creating havoc in the backfield and defending the run.
According to Pro Football Focus, Pyburn played 334 snaps for Florida this season across 12 games. He finished the season with a rush defense grade of 77.1, per PFF, which is the second-highest mark on the team amongst Florida’s edge defenders. He also led all UF edge rushers with 187 rush defense snaps.
The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, so it’s possible Florida will lose more key players in the coming days and weeks. Of course, the Gators are also expected to be active in attracting talent via the portal this offseason. Florida is hoping to take a significant step forward in 2025 with DJ Lagway entering his second season in the program.
Pyburn will have 1 season of eligibility remaining.
