What Florida still owes Will Muschamp as Gators part ways with Jim McElwain

Firing coaches is a risky business, especially since there’s no guarantee the new guy will be any good.
Florida, however, had better hope its next hire is a good one, because it will now have two former coaches on the payroll following Sunday’s news that the Gators were parting ways with Jim McElwain.
That’s because former coach Will Muschamp, who is now at South Carolina, is still owed more than $1.5 million over the next few months:

The terms of McElwain’s departure agreement have yet to be revealed, but it’s safe to say he’ll be receiving a hefty sum of money (even if it’s not his full buyout amount).
That’s a lot of money for one athletic department to stomach, and that’s before making what Gator fans hope will be a splashy hire in the coming weeks.
The coaching search is now on in Gainesville, and as we all know, those cost money, too.
