Florida is supposed to receive a resolution Friday on Ole Miss transfer WR Van Jefferson for 2018, according to a report by CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd.

Current SEC rules require that a player must sit out a year when transferring within the conference, whether a graduate or undergraduate transfer.

Florida and Texas A&M are sponsoring a new rule change that would allow any player to transfer from a team suffering a bowl ban and be eligible immediately. The Gators still haven’t filed an NCAA waiver yet regarding Jefferson until the SEC vote is announced.

Dodd’s story quotes a source that says the SEC is essentially split on the transfer decision, and it’s not guaranteed that Jefferson and Florida will get good news.

Six other former Ole Miss players received NCAA waivers to play immediately at new schools in 2018. Jefferson is the only former Rebel among the group looking to transfer within the SEC.

Nonetheless, this will be something to keep an eye on for Friday at the SEC Spring Meetings.
