Another Florida offensive player has decided to skip the Gators’ Cotton Bowl matchup against Oklahoma to prepare for the 2021 NFL draft.

After tight end Kyle Pitts and wide receiver Trevon Grimes previously made the decision to do so, the Gators learned they will also be without wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who announced he’s skipping the Cotton Bowl and beginning to prepare for the 2021 NFL draft on Monday. That means Florida redshirt senior quarterback Kyle Trask will be without another one of his top playmakers from the regular season.

Toney was a solid contributor for the Gators over his first three seasons with the team, but he had a breakout year in 2020. In 11 games, he had 70 receptions for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also rushing for 161 yards and a touchdown.

Over Florida’s past five games, Toney went over 100 receiving yards four times, including in the SEC Championship Game. In the loss to Alabama, he had eight catches for 153 yards and a touchdown.

Toney thanked his family, coaches, teammates and the fans while announcing his decision on Twitter:

Although Toney is done, Florida still has one more game to play. The Gators will take on Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
