Luke Del Rio has made it to the NFL. Onto the sidelines, that is.

According to his Twitter bio, the former Alabama, Oregon State and Florida quarterback is now an offensive quality control coach for the Washington Redskins. His father, former NFL head coach Jack Del Rio, is the Redskins’ defensive coordinator, hired to be on Ron Rivera’s initial staff in Washington.

Del Rio has had a long and winding road to his current position. He originally walked on at Alabama, but left after Lane Kiffin was hired by Nick Saban as the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator. After transferring to Oregon State on scholarship, he departed after the departure of Mike Riley and landed at Florida. In 8 games spanning the 2016 and 2017 seasons, he threw for 1,496 yards, 9 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

After his time at Florida was complete, Del Rio moved to New York City to pursue a career in finance but found a path in podcasting where he gained a strong following. Now, following a stint as an assistant high school coach in California, he has landed in the NFL coaching ranks alongside his father in Washington.
