The misdemeanor battery charge against Florida DB Brian Edwards has been dropped due to insufficient evidence, per a report by the Orlando Sentinel.
Edwards was arrested on May 6 for allegedly grabbing the neck of his girlfriend as she attempted to leave the apartment. Edwards’ girlfriend told investigators that she did not want to prosecute Edwards and told them a criminal act had not occurred. According to the original police report, Edwards’ girlfriend had marks on her neck and a scratch on her shoulder when investigators arrived.
A witness also gave inconsistent statements to investigators.
The Florida DB has played in 18 games in the secondary and on special teams. He’s recorded seven tackles.
