FootballScoop released a Sunday update that could be pertinent to some coaching search talk around the SEC.

The Scoop was updated Sunday afternoon to reflect yet another interesting development surrounding Florida’s coaching search, in particular. It was short, but oh so sweet for many Gators fans:

“Sources tell FootballScoop, Florida is advancing discussions with Chip Kelly. Stay tuned…”

If the Gators could land Kelly, it would be a sure-fire home run.

Kelly was 46-7 as a head coach at Oregon from 2009 to 2012. He won 12 games in three of his four seasons with the Ducks, and achieved two Rose Bowl appearances (won one), a BCS National Championship Game appearance and a Fiesta Bowl victory.

An update from FootballScoop earlier in the day said that athletic director Scott Stricklin wanted to hire Scott Frost. However, it added that Florida was worried about Frost’s ability to build out a staff of SEC recruiters. It also said Florida would want Frost to retain Randy Shannon, and potentially other defensive staff members.
