The Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes will kick off the 2019 college football season on Saturday, Aug. 24, in Orlando.

However, it appears that may not be the last time the two Sunshine State programs meet on the gridiron in the new future.

Per a report from the Orlando Sentinel, the Gators and Hurricanes are exploring options to bring the rivalry back to their respective campuses:

The two schools are in discussions and may soon announce a home-and-home series to begin in the near future, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations.

The report states that 2023 makes the most sense for the rivalry to renew, so that would be a three-season hiatus before things resume.

The Gators already play Florida State every year, and if they added Miami as a yearly rival, fans in Florida would surely love it.
