Florida appeared poised to add immediate help to the team’s defensive front heading into fall camp thanks to the addition of West Virginia graduate transfer Adam Shuler but now that addition has been called into question.

The former Mountaineer defender announced his plans to transfer to Gainesville in June but has reportedly failed to show up. According to Robbie Andreu of the Gainesville Sun, Shuler’s status with the team is uncertain at this time. If you were unaware, graduate transfers are not locked into commitments with schools until they arrive on campus and begin graduate study classes. So essentially, they can back out of plans to transfer at any point leading up to that point.

It’s not clear that Shuler has made that decision but it is noteworthy that the Gators did not assign the graduate transfer a jersey number when the team announced every number for the team heading into fall camp earlier this week.

Shuler appeared in 24 games over the previous two seasons for the Mountaineer defense. He registered 37 tackles and three sacks in 2017. In total, he has 71 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss and four sacks in his college career.
