Scott Stricklin has reacted to the news from Wednesday that because of major renovations at the Jacksonville Jaguars stadium, and the need for the Jaguars to find a home for 2 years.
The Florida athletics director said the Gators are all ears about stepping up to host the team temporarily without a home: “It would be worth exploring hosting games at The Swamp. There are a lot of Jags fans in Gainesville given the close proximity to Jacksonville.”
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said on 1010XL earlier this week that the Florida-Georgia game would move from Jacksonville for 2 seasons because of upcoming wholesale renovation of the stadium in Jacksonville.
Curry said that “best-case scenario” is that the renovation would take place over 2 years and impact 2 football seasons when the Gators, Bulldogs and NFL’s Jaguars “will have to play somewhere else.”
Stricklin added that the Jaguars have shared their vision for their stadium renovations with Florida officials and also expressed interest in having future conversations about where they would play games during the renovation.
