Tim Tebow knows a thing or two about living up to expectations with the Florida Gators.

The legendary Gators QB was a part of two national championships during his time in Gainesville and won the 2007 Heisman Trophy. He is an all-time great player and fan favorite.

The current Florida football team has not had quite the same level of success, and the Gators are now looking for a new head coach. Jim McElwain was dismissed on Sunday, and the rumor mill has heated up with multiple names linked to the position.

Tebow made an appearance on ESPN’s First Take Friday morning, and he addressed what an ideal candidate for the Gators would look like. Luke Stampini with 247 Sports shared Tebow’s comments:

“I think what Florida needs is Florida needs someone who has a very big personality,” Tebow opened. “They’re very engrained in their beliefs, they’re not going to be a coach that wavers…Maybe a first time big-time head coach, because when you take a look at the Florida program, it’s a great program. It’s a program that can ascend very quickly.”

Tebow reiterated that Florida is a great job, but it is a position that cannot be held by just any coach. He pointed out that the head coaching job with the Gators is an almost nonstop hot seat that eventually wore down Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer.

Expectations will continue to remain high regardless of who is coaching because the Gators are in a position where they can rebound quickly. Either way, it is vital that they choose the right coach this time around.
