Four-star quarterback prospects Feleipe Franks says he’s fully committed to Florida and isn’t worried about the Gators flirtation with 5-star prospect Jacob Eason or anyone else.

Franks, a 6-foot-6, 222-pound pro-style passer from Crawfordville, Fla., threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns in the Florida Class 5A championship game but the Wakulla War Eagles lost to the Bishop Moore Hornets 37-34 when Franks missed a game-tying field goal from 50 yards. The kick was wide left.

Florida coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier were in attendance for the game at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando.

After the game Franks spoke about his commitment to Florida and said that he hasn’t discussed the possibility of Eason joining him in this class.

“We haven’t really talked about that,” Franks said. “I’ve already made my final decision, and Jacob Eason … I’m not really going to comment on that.”

Eason took an official visit to Florida last week and will be taking his official to Georgia this weekend. Things were further complicated during the week when Eason took a surprise mid-week official visit to Washington.

As for Franks he said he was happy that McElwain and Nussmeier showed up to watch him play but he didn’t notice them once the game started.

“Outside factors really don’t matter to me when I step on the field and play,” Franks said. “I’m playing for my team and not really trying play or impress anybody. I’m playing my game. Unfortunately we came up short. For them to be here, that’s good, but, like I said I’m coming out here to play my game.

Franks said he’s excited to take his official visit, which will begin as soon as he leaves the stadium. He said that he’s coming in the program preparing to compete for the starting position in the spring.

“I’m going there with the mindset to prepare to start,” Franks said. “It will be up to the coaches whether that happens or not but I’m going to come in and work hard.”
