UF receiver signs deferred prosecution agreement regarding BB gun incident

According to college football beat writer Robbie Andreu, Florida freshman wide receiver Rick Wells has signed a deferred prosecution agreement in regard to a BB gun fight earlier this summer.

Florida wide receiver Rick Wells has signed a deferred prosecution agreement with the State Attorney's Office.

If Wells meets the terms of the agreement, there will be no conviction on his record. Must pay restitution ($900), cost of prosecution.

Wells also must either make a contribution to Children's Advocacy or perform community service.

The other Gators receiver involved in the incident who got arrested, Tyrie Cleveland, is having his past haunt him.

Tyrie Cleveland is not eligible for deferred prosecution due to a past legal issue in Houston concerning petty theft.

Cleveland has a court date of Sept. 22, where he is expected to accept a plea deal. His sanctions will be similar to Wells'.

Both Wells and Cleveland were confirmed as available to play this weekend against Kentucky by head coach Jim McElwain during his press conference on Monday.
