Walter Clayton Jr.’s injury status revealed for Florida-Vanderbilt game; Todd Golden provides update

Walter Clayton Jr. has been 1 of the best players in the SEC this season, but he was dealing with a sprained ankle during Florida’s blowout loss at Tennessee this past weekend.
He had 10 points on 3-of-13 shooting in the loss, before leaving with his injury. The Gators have another tough opponent up next as they host Vanderbilt on Tuesday night.
Clayton is still questionable on the injury report, but Florida coach Todd Golden is expecting his star guard to be available on Tuesday night.

“Obviously we avoided anything too serious, which is awesome,” Golden said, per the AP. “He definitely tweaked his ankle pretty good there in the first half. Second half, slipped in front of our bench. I don’t think there was anything added on because of that. Just kind of a fluky deal. He’s been knocking out his rehab and is recovering. He’s moving around pretty well, but we’ll take it hour by hour right now and see how it goes in practice. I think (Tuesday) when he wakes up will be a big determinant in if he goes or not.”
We may not know until the game tips off, but Clayton sounds like he will be good to go as long as he doesn’t have a setback Tuesday morning.
