West Virginia fans have been buzzing about ex-Florida QB Will Grier since the spring game, and Mountaineers head coach Dana Holgorsen only added fuel to that fire Tuesday morning.

While there was speculation about when Grier would actually return to the field following his suspension and transfer, Holgorsen ended it by saying that Grier would be eligible for game one against Virginia Tech. According to ESPN, WVU pursued a NCAA waiver for Grier to be eligible for the opener instead of sitting until Game 7.

WVU fans have more than enough reason to be excited about Grier, seeing what he did with Florida’s offense. Grier led Florida to a 6-0 start in 2015, throwing for 1,204 yards and 10 touchdowns.

When Grier was suspended at Florida, it was expected for him to sit out a full year after taking an over-the-counter supplement containing a banned substance. After a somewhat puzzling decision to leave Florida, the former Gator now finds himself in the Mountain State.

If you’re even thinking about dark-horse Heisman picks, keep Grier in mind. He’ll likely put up huge numbers in the Mountaineers wide open offense.

Meanwhile, Florida is still looking for its QB of the future.
