Florida State endured a terrible season in 2024. The Seminoles, just 1 season after finishing 13-0, went 2-10 overall and finished dead last in the ACC.

One of the many problems with the 2024 Florida State team was quarterback play. DJ Uiagalelei failed to live up to expectations while Brock Glenn and Luke Kromenhoek had their own struggles. Heading into the offseason, the team has already seemingly landed its passer for the 2025 season.

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, former Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos will transfer to Florida State.

Ironically, Castellanos was the QB of Boston College when the Eagles upset the Seminoles in September. In that game, Castellanos threw for 106 yards and 2 TDs while rushing for 73 yards and 1 score. The Eagles escaped Tallahassee with a 28-13 victory and pushed the Seminoles to a 0-2 record.

Castellanos started 8 games at QB this season for the Eagles before being benched. Shortly after being benched, Castellanos announced plans to enter the transfer portal. The QB ended his 2024 season with 1,366 yards, 18 TDs, and 5 INTs. Castellanos started every game for the Eagles in 2023 and finished with 2,248 yards with 15 TDs and 14 INTs.

Before transferring to Boston College, Castellanos began his college career at UCF. Gus Malzahn was the head coach at UCF and will be the offensive coordinator at Florida State in 2025. The Seminoles are hoping this reunion will pay dividends as the team eyes a return to relevancy in the ACC.
