Georgia has had tremendous success on the recruiting trail recently, and now the Bulldogs have another ranking to back it up.

After an update to the 247sports Composite rankings on Wednesday, Georgia moved up to No. 1 in the Class of 2019 recruiting rankings, passing SEC rival Alabama for the top spot. The Crimson Tide fell to No. 2, just ahead of another conference team, Texas A&M, at No. 3.

The Bulldogs have landed five 5-star recruits in the 2019 class. They are the only team to have more than two. Georgia also has 11 4-star recruits and a pair of 3-star recruits.

This isn’t anything new for the Bulldogs. The Kirby Smart-led program had the top ranking in the 2018 class after landing seven 5-star recruits to best Ohio State for the top spot. And in 2017, Georgia ranked No. 3 among top recruiting classes.

The success on the recruiting trail has translated onto the field. The Bulldogs won the SEC championship last season and advanced to the College Football Playoff, where they defeated Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl and played against Alabama in the National Championship Game.

Georgia should continue to have on-field success as it welcomes in another recruiting class filled with top prospects in both 2018 and 2019.

Some of the players from the top-ranked 2018 recruiting class will make their Georgia debut when the Bulldogs open the season against Austin Peay on Sept. 1.
