Could Georgia be closing in on another five-star recruit?

It may be a bit premature to go that far but Kirby Smart’s program is clearly trending in the right direction for five-star recruit Brock Vandagriff following the Georgia native’s recent decision to decommit from Oklahoma.

The five-star recruit announced on Thursday that he will be in Athens this weekend for Georgia’s latest recruiting weekend.

If you are unfamiliar with Vandagriff, the local Athens product is rated as the nation’s No. 1 pro-style signal-caller and the No. 8 overall recruit for the 2021 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Vandagriff plays for Prince Avenue Christian School, which is located about 20 minutes away from Georgia’s campus.

Before committing to Oklahoma, Vandagriff was considering Georgia, Alabama, Auburn and Florida among many other scholarship offers.

The Bulldogs currently hold just two commitments for the 2021 recruiting cycle and do not hold a pledge from a quarterback. Vandagriff is a prospect worthy of building a recruiting class around, which may be the recruiting gameplan for Smart and his Georgia coaching staff moving forward.
