Clemson is back in the win column after the Tigers steamrolled App State by a 66-20 final score in Week 2. However, that win appears to have given one player a bit of misplaced confidence.

In the season opener, Clemson faced Georgia in a neutral-site game in Atlanta. That matchup is a good measuring stick to begin the season, though the Bulldogs rolled to a 34-3 win in a dominant effort.

In spite of that head-to-head result, offensive lineman Walter Parks believes Clemson’s win over App State shows the Tigers “could have done that to Georgia.” To his credit, Parks admitted Georgia “whooped us,” but he still believes the plays were there to be made. The difference is now the Tigers know they can do it.

“I’ve never had any doubt in this team. It’s going to sound insane. I don’t mean this in any disrespectful way at all because I have a lot of respect for them, they whooped us. But I feel like we could have done that to Georgia, as well,” Parks Claimed. “I’m not saying 66-20 and do all that, but the plays were there, opportunities were there. It was good for this team to see that we can do it.”

While Clemson’s defense did hold Georgia in check for 30 minutes, the offense of the Tigers is another story altogether. Clemson finished with just 188 yards of offense and averaged 2 yards per carry in the loss.

If the Tigers want another crack at Georgia, they’ll have to whip things into shape and try to win the ACC as their best path to the College Football Playoff and a potential rematch.
