Georgia accomplishes extremely rare feat by beating Texas twice in 2024 season
Georgia pulled off an extremely rare feat on Saturday night in the SEC Championship Game.
With UGA’s 22-19 win over Texas on Saturday night, Georgia became the first team in more than a century to knock off the Longhorns twice in the same season. Georgia also beat UT 30-15 in Austin back in October.
According to ESPN’s Kevin Kegandhi, Georgia is the first team to accomplish that feat since Texas A&M did it back in 1909:

Of course, there haven’t been too many programs with the opportunity to beat Texas twice in recent years. The Longhorns only won 4 Big 12 Championship Games during the entire time they were apart of that conference. In each case, they either split the season series with their conference title game opponent or they didn’t play during the regular season.
Still, it’s an impressive accomplishment for a Georgia team that had to run through a gauntlet of a schedule to get to the College Football Playoff this season. The Bulldogs are expected to receive a first-round bye in this year’s CFP as a result of this big win over the Longhorns.
Depending on how the CFP goes, it’s possible UGA and Texas will meet for a third time this season.
Texas still holds a 4-3 all-time lead over Georgia in this series.
