The SEC East has been won, so it’s time for those annual nonconference games to end the season. In rolls UMass on Saturday (4 p.m., SEC Network), which should simply be a formality for the No. 5-ranked Bulldogs. UMass, an FCS school, is just 4-7 this season.

Here are five things I want to see from the Bulldogs against UMass:

1. Lots of playing time for Justin Fields

Since this should be a blowout, it will be nice to see freshman quarterback Justin Fields get a lot of playing time. He hasn’t played much the past six weeks or so, and when he has, it has almost always been as a runner. It will be nice to see him throw it around a bunch, and it should be a good learning experience. So far, he has been stuck on the bench behind sophomore Jake Fromm. He has thrown only 27 passes, completing 20 for 220 yards, and has carried the ball 29 times for 150 yards.

2. See how Eric Stokes looks as a starter at cornerback

When true freshman Tyson Campbell was struggling at cornerback last week, he was replaced by redshirt freshman Eric Stokes, and he played great. He has earned the start this week, so it will be interesting to see how he responds. “He’s just smart. He’s really bright,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said of Stokes. “He understands leverage, he understands coverages. You tell him something once and he goes out to practice and does it. A lot of the guys need reps and reps; Stokes gets it in the meetings. He’s very bright. He’s very diligent.”

3. Keep everybody healthy on both sides of the ball

Now that we know this season is going to be all about the Dec. 1 SEC Championship Game against No. 1 Alabama, it’s really important for the Bulldogs to stay as healthy as possible these next two weeks, both Saturday against UMass and then next week against Georgia Tech. It’s football, so that’s easier said than done, of course, but what would help is getting the starters of the field as quickly as possible. The reserves playing the entire second half would be a wonderful thing.

4. See more of the true freshmen who’ve been in hiding

Just because of the nature of the schedule, with three straight games against ranked opponents to close out the SEC schedule, we haven’t seen as much lately from some of the highly-touted true freshmen lately. It’ll be nice to see James Cook get some carries at running back, and we’ll keep a watchful eye on Campbell, too. He lost his starting job this week, so we need to see him bounce back. Center Trey Hill should get a lot of work on Saturday, too.

5. Keep this positive momentum going

After the loss to LSU, Georgia bounced back nicely with impressive double-digit victories against Florida, Kentucky and Auburn. This isn’t the same type of battle on Saturday, but playing well — and feeling good about it — is important, too. Be impressive, and move on. “Everybody is kind of in that groove right now,” Fromm said. “Hopefully we can keep rolling with it. The team is definitely taking strides, (considering) the caliber of opponents we have been playing.”  Now it’s time to make more strides, even against an inferior opponent.
