Brock Bowers continues to bring in national attention as he has a breakout freshman season at Georgia.

On Wednesday, Bowers was named the John Mackey Award Tight End of the Week following his performance during the 30-13 win over No. 11 Kentucky. This comes after Bowers was also named the SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after his team’s victory over the Wildcats.

Bowers made 6 catches for a game-high 101 yards and 2 touchdowns. With 6 touchdowns this year, he has tied the school record for the most touchdown catches for a tight end in a season (Leonard Pope, 2004).

Bowers first made a 27-yard catch in the end zone, and then in the fourth quarter, Bowers put the game out of reach for Kentucky as he caught a 20-yard touchdown catch.

The 2021 Mackey Award recipient will be presented on Dec. 9 at the College Football Awards Show, which will be a virtual format from the ESPN studios in Bristol, Conn.

Georgia returns to action next week against Florida in Jacksonville.
