Greg McElroy has already picked a winner in the national championship, but during an appearance on The Paul Finebaum Show, McElroy outlined a path of least resistance for Stetson Bennett and the Georgia offense.

McElroy said he’s been a supporter of Bennett, even though the Georgia quarterback wouldn’t win a beauty contest as a quarterback.

“The guy makes plays though,” McElroy said. “… Stetson Bennett’s best attribute is his scrambling ability, and right now as you look at Alabama, they have an unbelievable pass rush, as did Michigan. Michigan had excellent edge rushers with Aidan Hutchinson and (David) Ojabo. Well, we all know what Alabama has … but I could definitely see a situation where having a quarterback with significant mobility would benefit you against Alabama. Right now JT Daniels is not that, Stetson Bennett is.”

McElroy then offered some reason for Georgia fans to have optimism ahead of the national championship game on Jan. 10.

“Now I think what’s most encouraging if you’re a Georgia Bulldog fan, is that Alabama has a couple question marks in the secondary,” McElroy said. “I think Kool-Aid McKinstry is going to be an All-American at some point. The kid’s got a ton of talent and is very gifted. And then opposite him, if for whatever reason Jalyn Armour-Davis can’t go, then you’re starting a guy that has limited experience coming from JUCO this past year. So you have 2 relatively inexperienced corners, and if you have to matchup with the likes of Brock Bowers, if they have to matchup with one of the other wide receivers that can beat you vertically, that could be something that Georgia could try to take advantage of.”
