Greg McElroy didn’t waste any time in making his pick for the national championship game.

During a segment on “McElroy and Cubelic In the morning” on WJOX out of Birmingham, Alabama with Paul Finebaum, McElroy explained why he’s already set in his thinking.

“I cannot pick Georgia in this game, I’ll make my pick now. I’m picking Alabama, I don’t know how you can pick Georgia,” he said. “I understand why people might be able to see through that, but man, I’ve also witnessed Bama beat Georgia convincingly a few times. I just can’t go that far. I understand it, I get it, but, I can’t make that decision.”

Both teams are coming off impressive performances in the College Football Playoff semifinals. Alabama dispatched of Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl behind a dominating rushing attack led by Brian Robinson Jr. Georgia knocked off Michigan in the Orange Bowl thanks to a great game from QB Stetson Bennett.

Georgia is trying to stop Alabama’s 7-game winning streak in the series.
