Kirby Smart reveals determining factor in Georgia QB race
Kirby Smart described what separated Carson Beck in Georgia’s QB competition this offseason. Beck will be the new face under center this season.
Smart broke the news about the results of the QB race on Saturday at a press conference.
One of the main things that made Beck stand out was how comfortable he was with the offense.
“That’s the greatest separator between he and the other two quarterbacks is his comfort level with the offense … The two young ones have had a great job.” said Smart.

Beck will be filling the role that was previously held by Stetson Bennett for many years. Bennett currently plays for the L.A. Rams in the NFL.
The other quarterbacks who were competing for the starting job were Brock Vandagriff and Gunner Stockton.
Beck has appeared in 11 total games since coming to Georgia by way of the 2020 class as a former 4-star recruit. His first game at QB1 will be against UT Martin on Sept. 2.
The game is set to kickoff at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
