Kirby Smart updates status of Georgia WRs George Pickens, Dominick Blaylock ahead of Charleston Southern game

Georgia wide receiver George Pickens hasn’t played in 2021 thanks to an ACL injury suffered in the spring. His teammate in the WR room, Dominick Blaylock, hasn’t seen the field since the 2019 SEC Championship Game against LSU thanks to a series of injury setbacks.
Could Pickens and Blaylock be close to returning as the Bulldogs are on the verge of a College Football Playoff berth? The news continues to be somewhat promising for both to possibly see the field at some point.
Kirby Smart mentioned the status of Pickens, as well as Blaylock, during his press conference on Tuesday night:
WR George Pickens (knee) is still practicing in a non-contact jersey, but is getting more reps and more volume. Kirby Smart said he's going up against the No. 1 defense because there's less scout team work this week. WR Dom Blaylock is sidelined with the flu.

At the beginning of the month, Smart stated that Blaylock was “heading in the right direction” despite a hamstring injury, while Pickens’ presence on the practice field continues to be encouraging. That could mean that the WR unit could receive a boost with Arian Smith possibly lost for the season with a broken leg.
Georgia and Charleston Southern kick off at noon ET on Saturday.
