Georgia’s defensive backfield losing some depth as one of the team’s young defensive backs just announced he will be leaving the program.

After just one season in Athens, safety Major Burns is moving on from Georgia’s football program.

“I will be entering the transfer portal, thus ending my career at the University of Georgia. It was not an easy decision, but one my heart led me to make. I want to wish all my coaches and teammates the very best this season and beyond. I may not be physically there, but I’m only a phone call away,” Burns wrote.

Burns was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 13 safety in the country in the 2020 recruiting cycle. He signed with Georgia after being previously committed to both LSU and Texas A&M during his high school recruitment.

The Louisiana native played for Madison Prep Academy in Baton Rouge. He was selected to participate in the 2020 Under Armour All-American Game coming out of high school.
