Mike Bobo gives hilarious reaction to his son’s role in Georgia fake punt vs. Texas
Mike Bobo met with reporters on Saturday afternoon in advance of Georgia’s College Football Playoff game against Notre Dame on New Year’s Day.
While many questions revolved around the Fighting Irish, Bobo was also asked about a specific play from Georgia’s SEC Championship Game win over Texas. Bobo’s son, Drew Bobo, played an integral part in Georgia’s successful fake punt against the Longhorns a few weeks ago.
Bobo, when speaking with reporters for the first time since that play, cracked a joke.
“I’m glad he didn’t screw it up,” he said with a smile. “Otherwise we’d have 2 Bobo’s that everybody could yell at.”
Of course, Bobo is referring to the numerous bouts of criticism he’s received during his time as Georgia’s offensive coordinator. It was a bit of a down year for the Bulldogs on the side of the ball despite the SEC title. Georgia averaged 6.1 yards per play this season, its lowest total since 2019.
As a refresher, here’s a clip of the fake punt with Drew Bobo making the crucial pass:
Georgia will face Notre Dame at 7:45 p.m. ET on Jan. 1 in the Sugar Bowl with a spot in the semifinals on the line.
