After a brief stop in the ACC, David Cooper is reportedly back in the SEC.

Jake Rowe of Dawgs247 is reporting that Cooper has been hired as Kirby Smart’s Director of High School Relations. Cooper had taken the Recruiting Coordinator position at Louisville in February 2021 after spending the 2019 and 2020 seasons on Dan Mullen’s Florida staff in the off-field recruiting position of assistant director of player personnel.

At Florida, Cooper worked closely with Gators defensive line coach David Turner. The two had previously worked together at Texas A&M on Kevin Sumlin’s staff.

“At Florida, I started out just working with the defensive line with Coach Turner, ” Cooper recalled to Cardinal Authority in May. “And we brought in Gervon Dexter, Princely Umanmielan, we brought in some 4-star, 5-star type guys. When other staff members started noticing what I could do they started like, ‘Hey, can you help me out with this position,’ and all that, and I ended up really just kind of helping everybody out and not primarily stuck on the defensive line.”
